This Might Be A Radio Show

THE STORY

The Story

TMBARS was a college radio show that ran from 2016-2024.

Prologue

After the FCC's repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, terrestrial radio, long past its golden age,
got riddled with obnoxious hosts, biased commentary and public schadenfruede.
At
Brookdale Community College, a radio club and Brookdale Student Radio
were founded by the staff of
WBJB.

Inception

In 2016, This Might Be A Radio Show (TMBARS)
was proposed by Jacob Freer-Balko,
and given its original Tuesday and Thursday time slots.

Initial Fallout

TMBARS' Thursday shows later conflicted with a preceding act
This was later mediated and TMBARS returned to its Thursday slot only.

The Show

Collapse

The COVID-19 Pandemic cancels TMBARS abruptly,
and the move away from Brookdale is made the following year.

Revival

TMBARS is revived on Mixcloud, based out of the Philadelphia area and pre-recorded,
allowing for greater experimentation. Later became a production of
Valiantly Off Balance.
Later, full time work made TMBARS updates more sporadic.
